Yay for cheap-ness. I am so lucky to have all these people helping me out! When you sit down and start planning a wedding, you don't realize how much really goes into one. Outside of the decorations, I am super lucky, not to mention really glad, that I know these people with all kinds of different work backgrounds.
Since this blog is about the Prep of the wedding, I'm going to have to go into those details. Outside of venues and caterers, the next big ticket item that people worry about is their cake. I'm lucky enough that my wonderful Aunt is going to make mine. Now, I found this awesome picture and thought... "!"
I KNOW WHAT I CAN DO!!! Yay for wonderful gamer nerds who've gotten married before.
Because we're doing Kingdom Hearts and are wanting to stick to the theme as much as possible, we've thought about several different things we could do for the wedding cake. We thought about doing something this extreme with the cake by doing different worlds and having them sticking out, but then for the amount of people that we are going to have show up, that would be a waste of time and of cake. Now, who really wants to waste wedding cake? Really?!
So, looking around at different Kingdom Hearts things, I found this and thought...Hmm, yes, that would totally work! It's very simple, and covers the different worlds rather well in it's own...KH kinda style. :)
What we're going to do is have the "Secret Cave" drawings up on the outside of the cake. For those that have never played the game, it kinda gives a very vague idea of what the game is all about. Since we're only doing it in three different layers, we can make the spaces between the pictures smaller. For the top tear, we'll have the cave drawing of Sora and Kairi giving each other the Paopu Fruit, with the topper being a Paopu Fruit.
I know I keep saying I'm excited, but...it's the truth!
Our officiant is going to be Spencer's sister's husband's brother. Did you follow that? :) Daniel is Spencer's brother-in-law's brother and is a minister up in Michigan. Daniel and Spencer are also really good friends, so it makes things like this super easy. He's such a nice guy and I can't wait to sit down and have that "talk" with him when he comes into town next month.
For the photographer, my Uncle is going to be the best. I wouldn't want to bring anyone else in to do this. He is wonderful with the pictures he's taken, and they are very similar as to how I want my style of pictures. I'm kinda the type of person to go with "in the moments" instead of posed. :)
So...Yay, cheap-ness!
